Course objectives
The aim of this course is to give the student a comprehensive overview of Catalan literature from the beginning to the present, and at the same time to mention the important facts of Catalan history.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student will be able to: - Understand the evolution of Catalan literature - Describe the main movements of Catalan literature - Mention some of the main works of Catalan literature - Recognize authors and works of Catalan literature

  • 1. First texts (12th century) 2. Troubadour Literature (12th-13th centuries) 3. Four great chronicles 4. Religious and moral literature in the 14th and 15th centuries 5. Literature from the 16th to the 19th centuries 6. Naturalism in Catalan Literature 7. Modernism: theater, novel, rural novel 8. Noucentism 9. War, exile 10. Literature of the 2nd half of the 20th century 11. Literature of the 21st century
