- Course objectives
- The course is drawn as a training of communication skills during the counselling process. The goal of the course is to support the sudent learning to recognize problematic communication patterns of the clients and deal with them appropriately. Other objective is to improve congruence skills in counselling and the self-reflection of own communication patterns. The procedures are anchored in the theory of Virginia Satir and Paula Englander-Golden.
- Learning outcomes
- Students will be able to:
- apply the theory of Virginie Satir,
- recognize their own communication patterns and communication patterns of other people,
- confident in coping with stressful situations,
- deep and reflectin oneself and his/her work, thus strengthening his identity as a counselor,
- create the contact with client and provide him/her with social support - Syllabus

- - Communication in the counselling process (the Growth Model theory of communication, characterictics of both verbal and non-verbal communication).
- - Congruent communication in counselling practice.
- - Communication behavior patterns.
- - Conciliating behavior patterns.
- - Blaming behavior patterns.
- - Passive-aggresive behavior patterns.
- - Distracting behavior patterns.
- - Indoctrinating behavior patterns.

- Teaching methods
- The course is organize as a training. The different tools of personal development such as body sculpture techniques, role play, learning of self-preservation positions, controlled imaginations with self-developmental topics, etc. are used.
- Assessment methods
- The course is divided into several group meetings. Requirements for fulfilling requirements: active participation, regular attendance, written self-reflective part of this course and participation in the final group discussion.
