Course objectives
The aim of the two-semester course Teaterworkhop I-II is a) to familiarize students with contemporary Swedish playwrights b) to expand comprehension and communication skills in practical use of Swedish through working with texts and improvisation techniques focused on the use of a foreign language c) to improve the phonetic pronunciation and comprehension through hands-on training. In the first four lessons the group will be divided into two seminar groups, one will also focus on improvisation, the other on training selected plays.

  • • Lesson 1: Introduction, description of the project, meeting within the group improvisational games. • Lesson 2: improvisational games, reading test. • Lesson 3-12: improvisation, practice of plays in Swedish.

Teaching methods
Analysis and translation of texts, reading, discussion, language and movement improvisation, exercises of pronunciation and articulation.
Assessment methods
Completion of the course takes the form of a public presentation of improvisational performance events or plays within a yearlong project (participation in a festival in Sweden, Swedish exchange trips. It requires an active approach, regular attendance and homework.
