- Course objectives
- At the end of this course, the student will be able to use Nynorsk in writing and speaking, mainly passively. This course focuses on the history and present of Nynorsk. Nynorsk, one of the two official written standards of the Norwegian language, has an irreplaceable place and a rich tradition in the literary and cultural spheres.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, the student will be able to:
- identify and summarize important features of the historical development of Nynorsk;
- use Nynorsk in writing and speaking, especially passively. - Syllabus
- The ideals of Ivar Aasen and his successors.
- The development of Nynorsk from the beginning of the 20th century to the present day.
- Morphological characteristics of Nynorsk: verbs, nouns, pronouns.
- Relationship between spoken and written Nynorsk and dialects.
