Basic orientation in the contemporary cultural scene. - Course Enrolment Limitations

- To acquaint students with important cultural trends and activities in the field of theatre, music, literature and, indirectly, visual arts and the activities of galleries, if they display literature, music and theater projects. If possible, the teacher will invite important representatives of culture within the region to classes, generally those with a significant regional overlap (directors and actors of Brno theaters, composers, writers, musicians).
- Learning outcomes
- The purpose of the lecture/course is to acquire listeners for more regular viewing of important television and radio programs (ČRo Vltava, ČT Art-zóna, broadcasts of important festivals - Prague Spring, Concentus Moraviae, Smetanova Litomyšl, St. Wenceslaus Music Festival, Colours of Ostrava) and literary, dramatic and music-oriented activities in Prague, Ostrava, Olomouc, Brno and elsewhere. At the same time, regular information from the professional press - monitoring the literary monthly HOST and others will be given. After completing the course, the student should familiarize himself more independently and with interest in the contemporary Czech cultural scene.

- Music festivals: Prague Spring, Olomouc, Ostrava, Brno, Concentus Moraviae, Janáček Brno, Litomyšl, Český Krumlov and others, Jazz in the Czech Republic: Jazz Fest Brno, Musical theaters: Prague, City Theater Brno (S. Moša), Ostrava, Studio and experimental theaters: DHNP, Dejvické, Zábradlí, Dlouhá, La Fabrica, Magnesia littera, Important magazines (HOST), Television: Art-zóna, ČT Art: comparison with France 3, ZDF etc., Opera directors, Drama directors, Bestsellers: book fairs, translations, New Czech films, exhibitions, galleries, Jindřich Chalupecký Prize: basic trends
