Course objectives
A systematic explanation of the normative grammar of the Attic dialect in the Classical period (according to Lexis: 30-39). Morphology: atematic verbs, summarization of all stems types of the Greek verbal system, dual, numerals. Syntax: infinitive and participal constructions, temporal clauses, indirect speech. At the end of this course, students should be able to use the explained grammar and vocabulary by the active and passive translation of the Old Greek texts.

  • 3. Didomi: other aspects.
  • 4. Tithemi and its compounds.
  • 5. Hiemi and its compounds.
  • 6. Histemi and its compounds; temporal clauses.
  • 7. Athematic verbs inflected according to histemi; conjugation of other athematic verbs.
  • 8. Eimi (to go).
  • 9. Verbs of -n(n)ymi.
  • 10. Participle and infinitive.Indirect speech.
  • 11. Numerals.
  • 12. Revision.
