Course objectives
The course will focus on aspects of relations between post-war British society and culture (primarily popular culture), including social geography, popular music, film, consumer culture and sport, as well as considering theoretical approaches developed in the same period. By the end of the course the student will have written an essay displaying their ability to analyze the possible cultural significance of a given form of cultural expression in the period covered.During the participants the course will be encouraged to develop the skills of analyzing and discussing the cultural significance of a given phenomenon or trend using relevant evidence and of comparing trends in their own cultures with those analyzed in relation to British culture.

Teaching methods
Teaching by group work and class discussion in the form of seminars.
Assessment methods
Assessment will take the form of class contribution (40%) and an essay of 7-10 pages.(60%).The essay has the status of an exam and needs to be registered for. Essays must be submitted in hard copy form.
