Course objectives
The course aims to familiarize students with basic translation procedures. Students learn to apply different translation procedures (transposition, modulation, etc.) to translate various types of texts.
Syllabus
  • Students will exercise their ability to use different translation methods by doing translation and proof-reading of various short texts.
  • The organisation of the subject matter will be based on the division of translation equivalence according to the levels of translation units (lexical-grammatical-textual).

Teaching methods
Exposition and definitions of basic terms and their exemplification on different types of specific text (recordings), proceeding from diverse registers.
Assessment methods
The written part - translation + commentary on the text translation. The oral - Discussion of reading (comparison of French prose text with 2 Czech translation).
