- Course objectives
- The lecture gives information about the historical development of seals and coates of arms, their classification and typology. It offers information about fundamental attributes of seals and coaet of arms (royal, aristocratic, ecclesiastic and municipal). It explains essential concepts of genealogy. Students can get information about the most important scientists in the field of Heraldry and Sfragistic. Semminars are focus on practise – especially on precise description of seals and coates of arms (blazon) and on self-work with the genealogical springs (it means with church register above all). At the end of this course students are able to use information about seals forgery in the Middle age; they have knowledge about Christians and Jewish registers and can make a print of sealing-stick. Next they should understand to the Czech royal sfragistic in the era of Přemysl family and to describe it as well as to use information about contemporary communal, land and citizen heraldry in practices.
