- Course objectives
- The main focus of this course is practicing speaking and conversation skills in Dutch at CEFR level B2. Different speech acts and situations are part of the training. Attention is paid to pronunciation and prosody and to speaking strategies, such as reformulation.
Good reading starts with listening and therefore also listening and language skills are practiced and students are encouraged to increase their linguistic input and to actively listen to both formal (academic) language use (e.g. lectures by scientists in different fields) and informal conversations (e.g. "chat podcasts"). - Learning outcomes

- The topics are suggested by students and the teacher during the semester.
- Each student chooses and presents a lecture from the University of the Netherlands/Flanders. The topic is discussed in class.
- In addition, each student also presents a program, series, podcast,... Students transcribe a fragment of oral speech and the language is analyzed thoroughly.
- The teacher provides up-to-date, authentic sound material, which serves as a basis for discussion.
- In addition, various speaking tasks are given, tailored to the themes that are chosen and to the needs of the students.
