- Course objectives
- This course is intended for Bachelor students of the second year. Topics and grammar dealt with in the obligatory course Language acquisition II/2 are practised by means of prosody, pronunciation, drill, speaking and conversation exercises. Goal is to reach level B1 of the European Framework of Reference for Languages.
- Learning outcomes
- Students practice a B1 level language and consolidate vocabulary and gain assurance in spoken language.
- Syllabus
- Each class revolves around one or more speech acts:
- (1) Talking about oneself and somebody else + giving advice
- (2) Making appointments and calling
- (3) Describing people and things and expressing emotions
- (4) Talking about rumours, gossips and facts
- (5) Asking (again) + influencing conversations
- (6) Asking about what happened + describing statistical figures
- (7) Expressing (un)certainty
- (8) Asking/informing about health/pain
- (9) Giving a preference and talking about characteristics
- (10) Expressing a negative attitude towards somebody + talking about stereotypes
- (11) Negotiating about costs and services
- (12) Formulating one's opinion
