- Course objectives
- The basic concepts of epigraphy, the development of Latin letters, institutions of the Roman state; epigraphic Greek; reading and interpretation of writings, primarily, sepulchral, votive and military; basic aids and their use. The basic concepts of numismatics; Metal of ancient coins and stamps of ancient world; Greek and Roman coinage
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course the student will be well versed in basic material sources; will be able to determine and describe a Greek and a Roman coin; to read and transcript an ancient inscription and expand its abbreviations.
