- Course objectives
- This course focuses on Dutch-language poetry from the second half of the 20th century to the present. Each module highlights and explores a movement (e.g. the Vijftigers) or phenomenon (e.g. the poetry event "Poëzie in Carré"). It also provides tools for analysing poetry. In this way, students are not only introduced to poets and poems from the Netherlands and Flanders, but they also learn to underpin their interpretation with the correct use of literary terms.
- Learning outcomes
- - Students are introduced to Dutch and Flemish poets and Dutch-language poems.
- They learn to put phenomena, movements, poets and poems in their social context and the history of (Dutch) literature.
- They are introduced to poetic techniques and their correct Dutch terminology.
- They learn to formulate their interpretations of poems and substantiate them with arguments. - Syllabus

- Teaching methods
- Each module in this e-learning course consists of texts, poems with word explanations and digital exercises with instant feedback. Students also post contributions on forums and Padlets. They are also given different types of tasks: for example, they have to listen to a podcast excerpt and answer questions, or they have to write a short analysis of a poem or answer questions.
- Assessment methods
- Students carefully read the digital books "THEMA" and "TOOLS" and complete all H5P exercises (with immediate feedback). Each module, their knowledge is tested with a digital TEST (mainly multiple-choice questions). In addition, they are given two or more tasks ("TAKEN"). These are usually forum contributions or short essays. These are provided with weekly feedback by the teacher.
