This course anticipates completing of all basic chemical courses and at the same time C8175 Didactics of chemistry.

Course objectives
Students will develop basic practical behaviours concerning chemistry teaching and appropriate didactical methods. Students will learn how to use modern teaching aids. Practical lecture will be carried out on some featured topics of general, inorganic and organic chemistry and biochemistry taught at grammar schools.
Learning outcomes
Student has an overview of methods of teaching chemistry; is able to design both content and method of teaching with respect to it´s goal; is able to use didactical devices.
Syllabus
  • Exercised topics: structure of atom; periodic table of elements; chemical bonding; molecular shapes; chemical reaction kinetics; chemical equilibrium; pH; elements of 14. -17. groups; alkanes; alkenes; alkynes; aromatic compounds; alcohols; aldehydes and ketones; organic acids; heterocyclic compounds; synthetic macromolecules; saccharides; lipids; peptides and proteins; enzymes; nucleic acids; metabolism of saccharides, lipids, proteins and nucleic acids; regulation of metabolic processes.

Teaching methods
In seminars, students simulate teaching process in real schools. The other students discuss and assess their colleagues' performances. The performance is also evaluated by the lecturer. Short simulated lectures may be recorded to prove teaching mistakes.
