- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to introduce students to the methods of water abstraction. Students will be introduced to the principles of water abstraction and to the advantages and disadvantages of the different water abstraction methods as shown by practical examples.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, the student will be able:
design a water abstraction method appropriate to the site;
to set the rate of withdrawal to achieve the sustainable water resource development both in terms of ensuring sufficient quantity of water withdrawn and in terms of its quality - Syllabus
- Methods of groundwater abstraction:
- - abstraction ditches and galleries;
- - drilling wells;
- - hand-dug wells;
- Methods of surface water abstraction:
- - from water reservoirs;
- - from rivers;
- Specific examples of the abstraction methods application.
