- Course objectives
- System and evolution of plants is one of the basic disciplines of the biology study. Course presents the groups of organisms historically classified among the plants. "Lower plants": Prokaryota - classification of Cyanobacteria in the recent system. Eukaryota - endosymbiotic origin of the semiautonomous organelles, survey of the divisions of the algae, fungi and "fungi-like" organisms to the level of classes and orders. Recent opinions to their position in the system of organisms (in different kingdoms). "Higher plants": survey of particular divisions from Bryophyta to Magnoliophyta (Angiospermae), the most important orders and families of the angiosperms. Basics of morphology, classification of the vascular plants, basic mechanisms of the plant evolution. Diversity of taxa with special remarks to the Flora of Central Europe.
