- fields of study / plans the course is directly associated with
- Upper Secondary School Teacher Training in Physics (programme PřF, M-FY)
- Course objectives
- The course is addressed mainly to prospective physics teachers and to other persons of interest. The basic didactical and methodical approach to physics teaching in high school is investigated. Instructions for experiments in physics lectures, for solution of various types of physical problems and for laboratory exercises are presented. The questions of testing knowledge, skills and routines of pupils is investigated and related to the high school physics standards.
- Syllabus
- 1. Physics as subject of teaching (physics course in basic school, in high school, especially in grammar school; physics and mathematics, physics and other science, physics and humanities).
- 2. Physics teacher (his approach to physics; his approach to pupils; his preparation for teaching).
- 3. Textbooks for physics (textbooks for high schools, collections of physical problems, physics syllabi for high schools; physics textbooks as aid for pupils; working with textbook, textbook and pupils records during lessons).
- 4. Physical knowledge and their presentation to pupils and students (basic school 1-5 year, basic school 6-9 year, four-, six- eight-year grammar school, other high schools, colleges and universities).
- 5. Physical laws (their realization, understanding,, formulation and quantitative formulation; discovery of laws; relations among physical quantities and formulae; application of physical laws).
- 6. Physical problems (their importance for understanding of physics; kinds of physical problems; methods of solution; their insertion in physical lectures; problem-oriented exercises and their importance).
- 7. Experiments in physics (the role of experiments; preparation of experiments and their insertion in physical lectures; kinds of experiments).
- 8. Exercises in physics (theoretical; practical – kinds of laboratory exercises, preparation, implementation, interpretation, protocol).
- 9. Basic contents of physical lectures (standards, objectives of physical lectures; basic matter – in lesson, in textbook, in a class-year, in a level of study).
- 10. Testing of knowledge, skills and routines of pupils gained in physics lectures (kinds of testing – oral, written; frequency; ranking – continuous, after a given interval).
- 11. Physics for inquiring and enthusiastic pupils (working method with these pupils; popularization of physics; competitions – Physics Olympiad, Tournament of Young Physicists, correspondence workshops etc.; literature for these pupils).
