Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
At the end of the course student should be able to:
analyze the items of selected parts of grammar school physics;
discuss critically frequent textbook treatments;
suggest and judge alternative treatments.
Syllabus
  • 1. Electricity and Magnetism (the history of the discipline, its contemporary state, the development of its textbook presentation, the selection and the sequencing of items, analysis of the physical and pedagogical defects, alternative treatments).
  • 2. Optics (the history of the discipline, its contemporary state, the development of its textbook presentation, the selection and the sequencing of items, analysis of the physical and pedagogical defects, alternative treatments).
  • 3. Special Theory of Relativity (the history of the discipline, its contemporary state, the development of its textbook presentation, the selection and the sequencing of items, analysis of the physical and pedagogical defects, alternative treatments).
  • 4. Physics of Microcosm (the history of the discipline, its contemporary state, the development of its textbook presentation, the selection and the sequencing of items, analysis of the physical and pedagogical defects, alternative treatments).

Teaching methods
Lecture with a seminar including discussions and individual students´ performances.
Assessment methods
Colloquium consists in a wide discussion on subject matter.
