- Course objectives
- At the end of the course the students are able to: Understand and explain developmental processes; Identify structures formed during embryogenesis; Interpret and explain recent knowledge and problems in regenerative and reproductive medicine; Formulate and discuss hypotheses about ontogenesis and evolution.
- Syllabus
- Embryology, pract. course 2 hours weekly. Regenerative abilities in animals. Reproduction: cell reproduction, the basic of the growth and development of organisms. Asexual reproduction of Protozoa and Animalia. Sexual reproduction and differences, gametogenesis, fecondation and fertilisation. Alternating reproductive cycles. Ontogenesis - embryonic, postembryonic direct and indirect development in main animal phyla. With the connection to the embryology lectures are students introduced to the field of morphologic assessment of developing human embryonal organs (6. - 28. week of IUD). Planned is the excursion into a special embryology laboratory or laboratory of assisted reproduction. Intensive searching for the newest data in the stem cell science will be demanded.
