- Course objectives
- to know personally the Czech and Slovak experts in the field of study phycology / algology;
to obtain current information about phycological research and new methods;
to identify natural habitats and ecotopes of different taxa of cyanobacteria/cyanophytes and algae;
to learn to identify taxa of cyanobacteria and algae using various actual existing methodologies;
to establish or to re-establish friendly future professional contacts with colleagues from other universities in the Czech Republic and Slovakia; - Learning outcomes
- At the end of this course the students should be able to use basic algological field methods, such as phytoplankton sampling, benthos sampling and sampling of subaerial cyanobacteria; they should know how to measure pH, temperature and conductivity in the field; distinguish basic genera of cyanobacteria and algae under the microscope; older students should successfully present their thesis topic at the symposium.
- Syllabus
- Excursion (course) is always held within the famous cyanobacterial-algal "Chantransia course";
- The course is designed for university students of all study levels who are engaged in field of cyanobacteria or algae;
- Or, for students whose field of study touching with cyanobacteria or algae, or simply want to see how does it look in research area of phycology.;
