- Course objectives
- This lecture aims to teach how to analyse biological data using appropriate univariate statistical methods.
- Syllabus
- 1) Introduction: Statistical software and its development. Statistica. R language. 2) Exploratory data analysis: Data frames. Types of data. Tables and graphs. Moments. 3) Esperimental design: Randomised. Nested. Split-plot. Latin squares. Pseudoreplication. 4) Klasical tests: t-test. Paired test. Correlation and casuality. Kontingency tables. Non-parametric tests. 5) Analysis of variance: One- to multi way. Post-hoc comparisons. Contrasts. 6) Analysis of covariance:One- to multi- way. Residuals. 7) Generalised linear models: Statistical modeling. 8) Data transformations: Box-Cox. Logarithmic. Angular. 9) Regression: Linear and non-linear. 10) Analysis of frequencies: Poisson errors. Overdispersion. 11) Analysis of binomial data: Binary and binomial data structure. 12) Survival analysis: Gamma errors. Weibull and exponential model. 13) Mixed models: Split-plot and nested design. Repeated measures.
