Předmět je určen především studentům fyziky se zaměřením na astronomii. U studentů je předpokládána znalost astronomie na úrovni bakalářského kursu.

Course objectives (in Czech)
V přednášce bude podán základní obraz historie astronomie jako přírodní vědy. Výklad přiblíží postupné vytváření pojmového aparátu astronomie, jeho vývoje současně s metodami, kterých astronomie v dané době používala. Na tomto základě bude provedena periodizace historických období, vytvářející hlavní linii vývoje astronomie. Důraz není kladen na množství faktů nýbrž na objasnění vývoje vybraných ucelenějších teorií charakterizujících dané historické období. Při výkladu je rovněž zachycena souvislost vývoje astronomie s matematikou a fyzikou.
