Course objectives
The main objective of this course is to practise 2D and 3D digitizers operation (tpsDig, MicroScribe), practise operating shape analysis software (SigmaScan) and shape analysis programs (TPS, Morphologica, Past, Shape, EFAWin). At the end of this course the student should be able to: perform digitalization of bones and parts of a living human's body; analyze shape using methods of geometrical morphometrics; apply histomorphometric methods; understand and explain the principle and basics of advanced imaging methods.
Syllabus
  • 1) Úvod do problematiky pokročilých metod v biologických vědách, typy vstupních dat,úprava vstupních dat (Excel, Statistika, SPSS, NTSYS, Past), popisná statistika, parametry, grafy, testování hypotéz
  • 2) Jednorozměrné statistické testy, přehled, použití, práce se statistickými programy
  • 3) Vícerozměrné statistické testy, přehled, použití, práce se statistickými programy
  • 4) Analýza obrazu a grafické programy
  • 5) Úvod do analýzy tvaru pomocí geometrické morfometrie, typy vstupních dat, záznam 2D dat, přístroje, aplikace, chyba metody
  • 6) Metody analýzy význačných bodů - 2D prostorová data
  • 7) záznam 3D dat, přístroje, aplikace, virtuální modely a jejich využití
  • 8) Metody analýzy význačných bodů - 3D prostorová data
  • 9) Metody analýzy pomocných bodů
  • 10) Metody analýzy obrysů - klasická a eliptická Fourierova analýza

Teaching methods
Practical course, taught in block session, for a limited number of DSP students of anthropology with serious interest, in exceptional cases also for other students. The students work individually and in groups on an assigned task, elaborate a lab protocol; under lector's supervision.
Assessment methods
Concluded with credit after discussion on lab protocol.
Language of instruction
