- Course objectives
- At the end of the course students should be able to understand and explain important biochemical laboratory methods for biochemical analysis and diagnostics - spectrophotometry, fluorometry, chromatography, electrophoresis.
- Learning outcomes
- After finishing the course, student will be able to carry out special biochemical measurements using devices as fluorimeter, HPLC and SECM.
- Syllabus
- Theoretical backgrounds. Principles, instrumentation and use of the most important separation and other methods in biochemistry. Principles of work with biochemical material. Theory of chromatography and electromigration methods. Basic spectral methods. Practical training in absorption spectra measurement, photometric estimation of enzyme activities. Fluorescent behaviour of typical fluorochromes, influence of environment. Protein separation using high performance liquid chromatography. Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis of proteins.
