The course is designed for students of master's degree of Antropobiologie and antropogenetika. Student will learn during the laboratory exercise all steps of aDNA analysis. - Course Enrolment Limitations
- The course is only offered to the students of the study fields the course is directly associated with.
The capacity limit for the course is 10 student(s).
Current registration and enrolment status: enrolled: 0/10, only registered: 0/10 - fields of study / plans the course is directly associated with
- Human Biology (programme PřF, N-BCL)
- Special Biology (programme PřF, N-EXB, specialization Antropobiology and Antropogenetics)
- Course objectives
- The student gains practical experience with sterile sampling of DNA from historical skeletal material. He will be trained in the work of a DNA sample in a laboratory. This exercise is necessary for students of anthropobiology and anthropogenetics to develop their diploma theses.
- Learning outcomes
- Students completing the course will be able to: - separate tissue sampling for DNA analysis - lysing bone tissue, purifying and DNA - choose the most suitable method for the given topic of the diploma thesis - design a protocol for genetic analysis - optimize a protocol for genetic analysis - bioinformatically and statistically evaluate the results
- Syllabus
- 1. Selection of sample for analysis of DNA, anti-contaminating measures 2. Lysis, purification of a DNA 3. Quantification and determination of aDNA quality 4. PCR and its optimization 5. Sequencing 6. Bioinformatics and statistical tools for evaluation of genetic analysis results
