Basic knowledge of general, inorganic and organic chemistry. Writing chemical equations, stoichiometric calculations, and calculations of solution concentration and mixing will be used extensively. - Course Enrolment Limitations

- Course objectives
- At the end of this course, students should be able to: perform basic laboratory operations (filtration, crystallization, distillation, extraction, sublimation, volumetric methods); use basic methods of determination of physicochemical constants of compounds; apply basic chemistry calculations in laboratory practice.

- Syllabus
- 1. Introduction, laboratory and equipment, guidelines for laboratory work and writing reports, safety rules. Pass-requirements. 2. Filtration, extraction, simple distillation, determination of the refractive index. 3. Preparation of (COOH2) volumetric solution, volumetric measurement of the molarity NaOH,TLC. 4. Preparation of buffers, pH measurement, filtration under reduced pressure. 5. Separation of the KAl(SO4)2.12H2O + CuSO4.5H2O + Cr2O3 mixture. 6. Preparation of H2SO4 volumetric solution, volumetric measurement of the molarity, density of the solution. 7. Preparation of CuSO4.5H2O. 8. Extraction of plant pigments, manganometric titration. 9. Chelatometric titration, preparation of Cu(II) complex. 10. Preparation of terc-butylchloride. 11. Preparation of paracetamol, melting point, TLC 12. Isolation of caffeine from tea leaves. 13. Preparation of 2-chlorbenzoic acid.
