Introduction
Bodystyling is one of the most popular group exercise lessons people are looking for in studios and fitness centers. It is an exercise lesson which includes both aerobic and strengthening components, using your own body weight and appropriate strengthening and balancing equipment. At the beginning the strengthening was included in aerobics group exercise lessons (80ties). During this time period ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) published several research studies proving that strengthening should be an important part of any exercise program. As a result of the research ACSM recommended people to engage in aerobic exercise with a medium intensity 3 times a week and strenghening exercise 2 times a week.
Strengthening Aerobics lessons are not considered “real” strength training. It is not possible to achieve muscle fatigue after 15 reps using your own body weight and/or regular group exercise strengthening tools (even in a group of beginners, after 6-10 weeks of work, the muscles will adapt, and it is not possible to stress the muscle more in a group exercise using prescribed 15 reps).
The goal of this textbook is to create and offer you a comprehensive overview of this aerobic exercise program including the list of strengthening exercises. Theoretical introductory chapters include not only characteristics of aerobic programs, correct posture, functional disorders of the locomotive apparatus, didactics and the principles of bodystyling lessons, but also include analysis of music and the personality of the instructor. Those two are important, motivational components of these exercise programs. The main goal of this textbook is to specify the strengthening of individual muscle groups, to give examples of different forms of aerobic training lessons and to offer a comprehensive list of exercises using your own body as well as using strengthening equipment (bosu, overballs, dumbbells, booster belts, etc.) generally used in bodystyling. We assume that the publication and submitted list of exercises will be an appropriate inspiration for students in physical education specializing in fitness; for physical education teachers at the elementary, secondary and high schools; and also, will be a good use in sport training.
Finally, we wish this textbook to be an appropriate inspiration and motivation for your training lessons.
