Knowledge of English at intermediate level is required as this course is given in English. Related courses: M024 Cryptography, P046 Information Systems and the Law and P079 Applied Cryptography.

Syllabus
  • The seminar reviews selected topics in IT security in a greater depth. Students are expected to work on several assignments and a term project.
  • Topics of the seminars cover applications of cryptographic mechanisms, especially of the public key techniques.
  • Block ciphers and modes of operation. AES, DES.
  • Key management and protocols.
  • Authentication.
  • Security in communications and networks.
  • Biometrics.
  • Role of standards and evaluation (criteria).
  • State restrictions and cryptography.
  • Up-to-date topics are also set during the term.
  • This course is given in English. Assignments are to be handed in also in English, yet final exam answers and term project are accepted in both Czech and English.

Assessment methods (in Czech)
Written exam (closed book) 40%, term project 30% and assignments throughout the term also 30%. Course and assignments are given in English. Assignments are to be handed in also in English, yet final exam answers and term project are accepted in both Czech and English.
