Course objectives
The course will provide knowledge on multivariate data analysis - namely factor analysis, cluster analysis, multidimensional scaling, correspondence analysis and some methods using structural modelling. Practical exercises are an organic part of teaching.
Syllabus
  • Detecting groupings in the data: cluster analysis.
  • Data reduction and understanding of the structure of correlation matrix: factor analysis.
  • Finding of the structure in a set of distance measures between objects or cases: multidimensional scaling.
  • Optimal scaling procedure for categorical data: correspondence analysis.
  • Causal connection between sets of variables: path analysis as an extension of multiple regression procedures.
Assessment methods (in Czech)
Kurs Analýza dat - multivariační statistické metody je určen pro studenty magisterského studia Fakulty sociálních studií MU. Vyžaduje znalost nezbytných základů práce v prostředí WINDOWS, zvládnutí manažeru programů a textového editoru. Navazuje na kurs Statistická analýza dat přednášený v bakalářském studiu a předpokládá znalosti základů statistické analýzy a schopnost práce s programem SPSS pod Windows. Kurs je jednosemestrový, je vyučován blokově ve třech pátečních setkáních, každý pátek celkem 8 hodin výuku. Tyto pátky jsou: 23. 2. 2007, 6. 4. 2007, 27. 4. 2007, vždy dopoledne: 8,30-11,30 a odpoledne: 12,30-15,30. Kurs je veden je v počítačové učebně a zahrnuje praktické semináře s výkladem (samostatné řešení zadávaných úkolů). Kurs je zakončen zápočtem, podmínkou pro získání zápočtu je zisk nejméně 65% z možných bodů ze závěrečné práce.
