Course objectives
The course offers key information on news writing and editing in both Czech and international news agencies. It aims to show students the specific features of the news agency functioning and it focuses on the analysis of news production in the newswires compared to the one in commercial media. Successful students will learn to produce a piece of news based on news service principles, work with sources and citations; they will also be lectured upon the news agency language & style and latest trends.

Teaching methods
Theoretical part: analysis of news stories produced in news agencies & their comparison with the news produced in commerical media; however, the course will focus on practical competences: students will be taught to write and produce a news story on their own.
Assessment methods
Regular attendance, students will be asked to work on assigned homeworks, at the end of the course they will produce a news story on their own.
