- Course objectives
- The main aim of the course is to give students informations and possible interpretations of the evolution of Czech environmental movement and to present them strong and weak sides of it. Every participant of the course should be able to analyze evolution and recent state of five most important czech environmental organzations and to interpret their history.
- Learning outcomes
- Student will be able to: • - describe the history of Czech environmental thinking from Durdík to the present (Durdík, Pitter, Pammrová, Úlehla, Hruška, Moldan, Keller, Librová, Šmajs and others) • - to elucidate the origin of the Czech environmental movement, its development and describe its current state; • - to explain the difference between the democratic, authoritative and totalitarian functioning of organizations; • - to clarify the meaning of the term dogmatic, radical, extremist; • - describe the development of selected Czech environmental movements (ČSOP, Brontosaurus, Rainbow Movement, Children of the Earth, Disasters, Greenpeace) and explain its key breakpoints; • - outline the development of the Czech environmental movement's reflection and write an essay detailing the development of the selected environmental movement;
