Prerequisites
PSYb2530 Interview and Observation in Psychology
Ability to reflect on own practice, to cooperate within a team, to use basic communication skills and to be conscious of a situation. Student’s presence is required throughout the all study blocks.

Course objectives
Students will be briefed on different types of crisis situations and acquire practical knowledge of proceeding in such a situation. A group debriefing and supervision will be involved as a part of self care and prevention of burnout syndrome.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to provide basic psychological care in a stress situation and possibly equip a client in need with information of further professional care.
Syllabus
  • Crisis situations and their experience, personal experience with stress situation and personal needs. Review of basic types of care of people in harsh life situations. Personal motivation to care and awareness of own limitations. Practical use of basic psychological skills, sharing experiences, self care and burnout syndrome prevention.
Teaching methods
Lectures, group projects, stint as a psychological care provider in a hospital
Assessment methods
Written reflection (2000marks) on own motiovation, perceiving of own abilities and limitations, improving personals skills in providing of psychical first aid.
