- Course objectives
- The course is intended for those interested in future psychotherapy work with children and adolescents. Graduates of the course will acquire a basic theoretical anchoring for orientation in the topic, as well as specifically for various aspects of therapy. They will also gain practical experience using techniques and insight into practice through case study exercises.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, students will be able to:
- discuss the theoretical foundations of therapeutic work with children and adolescents
- identify the range of techniques and their use in practice
- reflect your own experience of contact with children
- formulate plans, goals and the course of the child's therapy - Syllabus
- Psychotherapy of children and adolescents in the context of developmental theories. The developmental and growth nature of therapy. Different (and common) elements of therapeutic approaches. The influence of the context of organizations and facilities on the concept of therapy.
- Start of work, contract with legal representatives.
- The beginning of work with the child. First meeting, induction and the importance of trust and safety in therapy. Contact maintenance.
- Relationship as a key element. Establishing and maintaining a relationship, the importance of a relationship for therapeutic work. The theory of early relational bonding and its importance in therapy.
- Game. The role of play in the development of an individual and in therapy, or "what's the point of my child playing with you?"
- Emotion. Expression of emotions in therapy and its meaning. Work with anger, sadness, fear (and joy :-) ).
- Projection, projective techniques, their meaning and role.
- Working with a therapeutic sandbox.
- Work with the body, work with the senses, imagination.
- Self care support, inner resources.

- Assessment methods
- In the course of the semester, the student will work on two semester tasks, which will be graded. The course ends with a final exam in the form of a test. The total grade will be based on the sum of the evaluation of the semester work and the points from the test.
