Course objectives
There are many ways of expressing the same thing - the one we choose depends eg on the function of the text, on its topic, situation, addressee and a lot of other factors. stylistics can be defined as a discipline examining the influence of these factors. The course will be focused on spheres of communication (journalistic, fiction, technical texts etc) and on their stylistic norms; further details will be specified at the beginning of the course.

Assessment methods (in Czech)
Požadavky k zápočtovému testu: 1) definovat několik termínů týkajících se probírané problematiky (viz seznam uvedený níže), 2) zodpovědět jednu otázku teoretického charakteru (např. Jaký je rozdíl mezi objektivními a subjektivními slohotvornými činiteli?), 3) zařadit zadaný úryvek textu k jednomu základních funkčních stylů a určit, jaký slohový postup v něm převládá, 4) přeformulováním odstranit víceznačnost několika zadaných vět, 5) delší zprávu, jejíž kopie bude přiložena, zkrátit na 15-20 slov tak, aby základní údaje zůstaly zachovány. Základní pojmy: - styl, stylistika, slohotvorné činitele (objektivní a subjektivní), základní funkční styly [prostě sdělovací (hovorový), publicistický, odborný, administrativní, rétorický, umělecký], základní slohové postupy (informační, vyprávěcí, popisný, výkladový a úvahový), stylové rozvrstvení gramatických a lexikálních jazykových prostředků (neutrálnost x hovorovost, knižnost, archaičnost...), horizontální a vertikální členění textu, poetizace textu - útvary a poloútvary národního jazyka (dialekt, interdialekt, obecná čeština; hovorová čeština, spisovná čeština; profesní mluva, slang, argot) - úzus, norma, kodifikace Význam všech těchto pojmů je objasněn ve Stylistice současné češtiny (1997); tato učebnice je k dispozici na studovně FF MU.
