- Course objectives
- The course is focusing on the problems of historical development of international relations between the years 1648-1991. The course surveys the periodization of international relations and the characteristics of international systems and ist units in the defined periods.
- Syllabus
- 1) Peace of Westphalia 2) International Relations and the policy of powers in the 2nd half of the 17th century and the 1st half of the 18th century 3) Rivalry of powers in Europe in the years 1740-1815 4) Congress in Vienna and the era of the concert of powers 1815-1854 5) Failure of the concert: crymean war, unification of Italy and Germany, the eastern question till the congress in Berlin 6) Making of the Triple Alliance and Triple Entente, policy of powers in the Balkan and the road toward the WW 1 7) Diplomacy and the WW 1 8) The system of Versailles: concept, construction and its decline 9) WW 2 and the change of relations among the powers 10) The making of bipolar system 1945-1953 11) Cold war in the 1950s and the 1960s, détente process in the 1970s 12) Failure of détente-policy and the end of cold war

- Povinná a doporučená literatura bude specifikována v rozšířeném sylabu, který bude studentům k dispozici na začátku semestru. K absolvování kursu je nutno složit zkoušku v rozsahu odpřednášené látky a zadané povinné literatury. Ke zkoušce bude student připuštěn pouze tehdy, pokud získá doastatečný počet bodů za průběžné úkoly. Prvním úkolem je vypracovat seminární práci v rozsahu 10-15 normostran na jendo ze zadaných témat. V polovině semestru proběhne průběžný test znalostí. Za seminární práci lze získat 10 bodů, za test rovněž 10 bodů. Zkoušku mohou absolvovat pouze studenti, kteří celkem za tyto úkoly obdrží 12 a více bodů.
