- Course objectives
- This course focuses on environmental law as a specific field of law. The course aims to acquaint studnets with the general framework of legal regulation of public participation in environmental decision-making, with activities of public administration and with options the Czech legal system provides in environmental protection.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course the student will be able to: - Understand and explain the general principles of environmental law, - Understand the environmental right regulation system - Clarify the main concepts of environmental law - Solve selected environmental law issues - Explain the importance of public participation in environmental protection - Critically analyze reports on public access to environmental protection - Formulate arguments for shortcomings in public administration

- 1. Basics of administrative procedural law focused on public participation and their rights 2. Public participation on environmental protections – overview, participative tools 3. Environmental impact assessment pocess focused on public participation and their rights 4. Spacial planning focused on public participation and their rights 5. Construction law focused on public participation and their rights 6. Individual area laws – water, air quality and soil protection 7. Individual area laws – landscape and nature protection, animal protection 7. Right to access to information focused on public participation and their rights 8. Citizen rights on regional and municipal level 9. Liability in environmental law 10. Environmentla NGOs – foundation, rights and obligations 11. Practical use of law for activism and other paticipative activities – petitions, protests, happnenings 12. [municipal govenrment meeting and report-writing; space for alterantive topics based on students‘ interest]

- Teaching methods
- The course is based on interactive education. Students will work with most recent electronic sources and newly created study materials. Students themselves will make an request for information. Students have to attend one meeting of the municipial council and make a record of it.
- Assessment methods
- There will be a written test at the end of the course covering the topics of individual sessions, e-learning and electronic resources accessible to the students. The test consist of 15 questions. 8 coorect answers are needed to pass.
