- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to cover the basic trends of the Czech foreign policy from 1989 till present. The main attention is focused on the position of the Czech Republic as a medium state on the European and World political map. Bilateral relations with the neighboring countries in the context of the Central European region will be analyzed in detail, followed by the bilateral relations between the Czech Republic, the US and the Russian federation as well as the participation of the Czech Republic within the NATO and the European Union. At the end of the course, students should be able to have adequate date basis to study the Czech foreign policy. Students should understand priorities and aspirations of the Czech Republic during certain stages from the establishment of the individual state.
- Learning outcomes
- Students will understand priorities and aspirations of the Czech Republic during certain stages from the establishment of the individual state. They will understand the process of Czech foreign policy formulation, its priorities and interests. The students will acquire critical capabilities to evaluate foreign policy challenges and about their possible solutions.

- V. Visegrad cooperation (Slovakia, Poland and Hungary): from escaping from the "East" through a significant partnership to European queuing; Germany and Austria in Czech foreign policy: from dealing with the past to (multilateral) cooperation.

- Grading is based upon the continuous point evaluation throughout the course. To pass the course, students must collect at least 70 points from regular tests, seminar group work and exam essays.

- Cheating on a written exam or in any other part or aspect of the course will result in the reduction of the final grade to an F. Plagiarism is the use of material written by another person without referencing the source. Plagiary will receive no points and the final grade will be an F. The Disciplinary Commission will be notified about any cases of plagiarism.
