Course objectives
Practical part of education provides laboratory skills which provide easy formatting of school-leaver to immunohaematology laboratory teams or to transfusion service teams. The most important concentration is focused on adopt conscientious laboratory processes including responsibility for safety of all particular lab steps link to ethic consequences.; - partake in formation of SOPs.
Learning outcomes
After course completing programme the student will be able: - do in praxis and control immunohaematology tests, inc. HLA tests - evaluate quality of analytic samples, - use laboratory IT systems, - know and use principles of good laboratory praxis and good manufacturing praxis,
Syllabus
  • Practical skills ; Techniques used in blood grouping, factors affecting antigen-antibody reactions, AB0 blood group testing, including weak blood groups and abnormalities, secretor status ; Techniques used in Rh system testing, including variant and weak D antigens, clinical importance in blood donors and patients and immunoprophylaxis ; Molecular blood group genotyping; Testing of blood group antibodies, tests to asses the potential significance of an antibody, decision making for transfusion ; Pretransfusion compatibility testing, special investigation in the workup of unexpected antibodies and blood group incompatibilities, special testing of patients with AIHA ; Immunohaematology testing of infant and newborn, blood group testing, direct antiglobulin test, management of transfusion compatibility, special requirements for intrauterine and neonatal transfusions ; Tests to evaluate suspected transfusion reaction ; Resolution of IgG and IgM antibodies ; HLA laboratory diagnostics, detection of I., II. Class of HLA antigens, HLA antibodies and its laboratory detection; Data process control on-line data transfer, record keeping ; Blood collection, testing and processing, blood donor selection, resp. blood donor management, storage and release of transfusion products ;

- self-reliant solution of analytic laboratory methods in teaching lab, - qualify accuracy of indication and interpretation of immunohaematology laboratory results, - continuous monitoring of student laboratory works and its corrections
