Course objectives
The module is focused on the practical improvement of swimming techniques, swimming when saving people from the water, helping a drowning person, resuscitation on the water, using special aids when saving a drowning person and the technique of riding a raft as part of a water rescue course. The theoretical part includes the basics of radio communication, dealing with emergencies involving mass casualties, and treating specific conditions associated with the aquatic environment (drowning, decompression sickness, diving accidents, spinal injuries, hypothermia...). The theoretical part is followed by practical verification of knowledge.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to - consider the risks associated with the stay of the water and the prevention of their occurrence - organize the rescue of a drowning person, including cooperation with other components of the IZS - resuscitation of a drowning person during transport to shore -use specific aids intended for rescuing a drowning person and provide temporary ones - correctly use the equipment and equipment intended for rafting -treat specific health disorders associated with the aquatic environment (decompression sickness...) -proper radio communication -resolving an emergency with mass health impairment (reporting, classification, cooperation with other components of the IZS)
Syllabus
  • •Improving the technique of swimming breaststroke, backstroke and backstroke, and rescue backstroke •Rescuing a drowning person with or without aids •Helping a tired swimmer and saving a drowning person in open water •Theory of driving technique on C2 on smooth and gently flowing water •Safety of movement in water terrain •First aid on smooth and gently flowing water, rescuing a drowning person in natural terrain and challenging conditions - technique training, transport •Arms and equipment for rafting •Dealing with extraordinary events • Radio communication •Specific situations connected with water-diving accidents, decompression sickness... • Familiarization with canis therapy and the work of the rescue brigade of cynologists Resources: materials of VZS ČČK for the rescue minimum and open water rescue minimum courses, ppt presentation
