- Course objectives
- The course is complementary to ZLBC0422p. The aim of the course is to bring experience with solving practical problems in clinical biochemistry, to acquire practical laboratory skills and to learn students to use results of biochemical analysis for diagnostics
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, the student will be able to:
- manipulate basic laboratory aids and follow the principles of safe work in the laboratory
- explain the methods of obtaining biological material for biochemical analyzes and is acquainted with the rules of handling it.
- interpret the results of biochemical analyzes and discuss the significance of the findings.
- understand the principles of the most important biochemical-analytical methodologies. - Syllabus
- Introduction to practice - organization, biological material
- Selected investigations of glucose metabolism - P/B/U-glucose, U-ketone bodies
- Selected examinations of hard tissue metabolism - S-calcium, S-ALP, S-bALP
- Selected saliva tests - secretion, buffering capacity, sal-glucose, sal-lactate, sal-α-amylaseliva and its substrate specificity.
