Course objectives
At the end of this complex of lectures a student will be able to define and to justify ray of light spreading laws through optical environments and their interfaces. The student defines, compares and categorizes differences between optical attributes of geometrical planes and their interfaces.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this complex of lectures a student will be able to define and to justify ray of light spreading laws through optical environments and their interfaces.
Syllabus
  • Fresnells equation for reflection and transmission, perpendicular reflection, total reflection Brewsters angle. Telecentric lens systems (for the principal ray), parallax. Imaging of points from a selected plane in the space with a tolerated unsharpness. Imaging with mirrors. System of spherical mirrors. Optical aberrations, definition and general consideration. Spherical aberration. Methods of corrections of spherical aberration. Distortion, refraction of rays near to the principal ray. Aberration of lateral object points (points beyond the axis), astigmatism, coma. The Abbe sine condition, aplanatism and isoplanatism. Definition of chromatic aberrations, principles of achromatic lens design. Short repetition of the discussed topics. Final written test. Exercises immediately follow the topics presented in the lectures.
