- fields of study / plans the course is directly associated with
- Biomedicínská technika a bioinformatika (programme LF, C-CV)
- Course objectives
- At the end of the course students will have basic knowledge of chemistry and biochemistry including clinical biochemistry.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, the student will be able to:
- understand the basic chemical principles important for processes in the human body;
- understand the meaning of terms such as electrolyte, osmolarity, osmolality, pH, buffer, oxidation, reduction, this knowledge can be used to describe the properties of human body fluids and important reactions in the body;
- understand the principle of selected methods used in clinical biochemistry (optical, chromatographic, electrophoretic, immunochemical methods);
- understand how energy is produced, used and stored in the human body;
- describe the basic pathways of metabolism of carbohydrates, lipids and proteins, explain the basic principles of metabolism and its regulation. - Syllabus
