Course objectives
At the end of the course, students will know the principles of drug prescription. They will be able to describe the possibilities of pharmacological approaches towards Parkinson´s and Meniere´s diseases and myasthenia gravis. Students will be able to provide pharmacological characteristics of analgesics, antiinflammatory drugs, antiuratics, myorelaxants and local anesthetics.
Learning outcomes
Students will know the principles of drug prescription. They will be able to describe the possibilities of pharmacological approaches towards Parkinson´s and Meniere´s diseases and myasthenia gravis. Students will be able to provide pharmacological characteristics of analgesics, anti-inflammatory drugs, antiuratics, myorelaxants and local anesthetics.
Syllabus
  • 1st lesson: Drug forms and routes of administration. Drugs databases and handbooks (SÚKL database, Pharmindex, AISLP, etc.). Legislation of drug prescription, prescription of narcotic and psychotropic agents.
  • 2nd lesson: Therapy of Parkinson disease, Menier disease, myasthenia gravis, spasms and dyskinesia.
  • 3rd lesson: Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, therapy of rheumatic diseases. Antiuratics. Anodynes.
  • 4th lesson: Myorelaxants. Local anaesthetics. Credits. Organisation of colloquium term.

Teaching methods
Students are provided with a pharmacology teacher presentation on the topic stated in the curriculum followed by discussion.
