- Course objectives
- Students will be able to transcribe basic words and phrases, to read transcription and to pronounce sounds in native-like way. Students are also trained to transcribe heard and seen text, and to enhance their ability to transfer our classroom materials to the primary school environment. Learning how "to practise self-study" is a crucial part of this course. Throughout the semester students are encouraged to link theory in the classroom to practice at schools via practical tasks.
- Learning outcomes
- The student: - is able to transcribe basic words and phrases; - is able to read transcription and to pronounce sounds based on IPA; - is able to transfer classroom materials to the primary school environment - is able to self-study and reflect on her/his pronunciation Learning about phonetics and phonology can help students become better pronunciation models, get familiar with teaching English pronunciation and prepare better for possible opportunities of teaching English to their future pupils.
