Course objectives
The goal of the course is to develop written and verbal communication skills, to deepen knowledge of Russian language on the lexical and grammatical aspects. Attention is also paid to the training of translation from Russian into Czech and vice versa.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course students will be able to discuss the conversational topics; to express their views with using a new vocabulary; to apply grammatical and stylistic knowledge of the Russian language in written and verbal communication; to translate from Russian into Czech and vice versa.
Syllabus
  • Main topics:
  • 1. Tourism. Irregular forms of adjectives and adverbs.
  • 2. Active holidays. Using prepositions "в" and "на" with Locative case of the nouns.
  • 3. Free time. Perfective and imperfective verbs. Derivation of verbs.
  • 4. My hobbies. Declension of numerals.
  • 5. Fashion and stereotypes. Verb patterns different from Czech.
  • 6. Fashion and youth. Imperative verb. Irregular forms.
  • 7. Sport and sports education. Conjugation of irregular verbs.
  • 8. Sports life style. Negative and indefinite pronouns.
  • 9. Ecology and the Environment. Transgressive. Translation of transgressive.
  • 10. Ecological problems. Adjectives verbal.
  • 11. Natural resourses of Russia. Proverbial expressions different from Czech language.
  • 12. Revision topics.

Teaching methods
Seminar, class discussion on given topics, homework, group projects within the areas discussed, reading and listening of Russian texts.
Assessment methods
The course ends with a written and oral final exam.
Requirements for admission to the examination are active participation in class and regular assessment and doing the required home assignments.
Final exam is composed of written and oral parts. Final written test examines all student´s knowledge of Russian grammar and practical language. The oral exam contains the discussion with the teacher, the reading (Russian book(s) – 350 p.) and the listening (Russian movie). The student will also bring a vocabulary exercise book, which will contain at least 50 new words.
