Course objectives
The main target of the seminar course on psycho-hygiene and health psychology is to master the principles of health psychology and psycho-hygiene in practice, particularly in the sphere of education and primary prevention. After the end of the course the student should know the principles of healthy lifestyle, including stress mastering, the skill to relax and care of optimum performance in physical, mental and social spheres.
Syllabus
  • Characteristics of basic literature on psycho-hygiene and health psychology. Discussion on the usage of psycho-hygiene in teaching. Program of seminars. Demonstrations how to probe into fatigue in psychology (tests and questionnaires). Analysis of a work curve. Psychological questionnaires testing the sleep quality. Discussion on H. Selye's book Život a stress (Life and stress), Bratislava 1966, and H. Selye's, K záhadám vědy (On mysteries of science), Praha 1975. Issues on stress mastering, coping. Problems connected with loading of pupils. Teacher and health. Issues of neurotic disorders, demonstration of relevant psychological questionnaires. Formation of principles preventing neurosis in pupils and teachers. Mental hygiene of family life. Rules of successful conduct in social situations. Self-education and mental health. Psychological questions of addiction. Demonstration of relaxation technique principles of Jacobson, Schulz, Machač and Kondáš. Discussion on the taught teaching matter, individual opinions on psycho-hygiene possibilities, individual experience.
