- Course objectives
- The student will extend all CEFR B2 language skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing) and will be able to speak on current topics related to his/her academic field of study and professinal career (Future Career; People and Society; Interpersonal Relations)
Students will also deepen their academic skills in: writing a CV, cover letter, Master's Thesis Abstract, research and bibliography resources developing thus his/her own Project on the 'Presentation for a Social Worker's Job Abroad'. - Syllabus
- Topics: 1) Work, job opportunities/applications, qualifications 2) Professional career of a social educator; Advertisements, Job interviews; Plans for the future; 3) Master's thesis abstract 4) Presentation and presentation skills 5) Communication, interpersonal relations, hot social issues Grammar: Articles; reported speech; prepositional phrases; linking expressions; phrasal verbs; modals Test practice: Sentence transformations, word formation, etc. Academic writing: 1) CV and cover letter; 2) Master's thesis abstract 3) Bibliography resources

- Teaching methods
- Practical language lessons, in-class discussions, e-learning based on IS.MUNI.CZ, Project/ Presentation - Application for a job abroad (including CV, cover letter) Thesis abstract, bibliography sources. Final B2-level test (70% pass).
- Assessment methods
- Credit/ examination requirements: 1) Attendance (85%) and active participation in classes; 2) Submitted in due time in-term assignments A) Project (CV, cover letter, presentation) B) Master's thesis abstract C) Literature review of Master's thesis resources in English (must be submitted to IS.MUNI in written form prior to the exam); Examination requirements: 2 parts: A) written (parts: listening, reading comprehension, use of English, writing; level B2; pass mark: 70%) B) oral (presentation of student’s bachelor’s or master’s thesis) (The final mark is based on the test score (70%) and oral exam (30%).
