Course objectives
The main objective of the course is to develop speaking, reading, writing and listening skills at intermediate level. The basic study material is the coursebook New English File Upper-Intermediate supplemented by various additional materials.The students are expected to work on their language development independently. The language is integrated with the Children´s literature course.
At the end of the course students should be able to: discuss everyday topics, communicate in everyday situations, read and listen to authentic texts at intermediate level and communicate in the language fluently.

Assessment methods
Requirements: assigned homework, i.e. prepare the corresponding section of the Unit (e.g. in section 6A read the text, study the vocabulary); active participation; progress tests
Methods: discussions, group work activities, pair work activities, listening and reading tasks. The lessons will be focused on speaking, listening and reading. Credit test: summary of Units 5 - 6
