- Course objectives
- The subject aims at interpretation as the main method of the work with artistic texts. The theoretical comment is completed by practical illustrations of both complex and partial ways of interpreting. Students are able to apply basic both complex and partial interpretational approaches in literary education. The emphasis is put on the problematic and communicational aspect of interpretation. (Having mastered the methods of interpretation, students are able to employ them in their work with a literary text in classes of literary education.
- Syllabus
- 1. The term interpretation in historical and actual context. 2. Scientific and didactic interpretation of artistic texts (complex, partial). Main changes of scientific interpretation, contemporary basis of didactic interpretation. 3. The conception of interpretation and the text structure - text and its parts, relations, functions. Theme, composition, language. 4. Specific features of interpretative processes, individuality of artistic texts. 5. Complex interpretation of various prosaic genres (fairy-tale, artificial fairy-tale, prose with child character, myth, fable, prose with natural theme, adventure story). 6. Complex interpretation of the poetry (lyrics, epic poetry). 7. Interpretation and critical thinking. The basis is the work with concrete literary texts for children and youth.
