- Course objectives
- The course is based on the theory and practice related to social field work and community social work. The course describes the methods and tools, which help to efficiently address social problems in socially disadvantaged groups. The course presents the theories, social phenomena and terminology of social work and social education. It also focuses on actual work in social services as part of the tasks of a social worker, social educator, healthcare professional, etc. Legislation, fundraising, planning, assessment and supervisions are some of the topics pertaining to social services in the Czech Republic, which make up the content of the course. Emphasis is put on the major interdisciplinary aspect of social work and social education, giving students a complex view of the use of social field work and community social work in the education of socially disadvantaged groups. The course also involves discussion with experts from social field work and community social work.
- Learning outcomes
- The students must acquire ethical principles of social fieldwork and a social worker’s ethical code in the context of a case study. They are also required to write a project application focused on the prevention/alleviation of gambling in socially excluded youths and create three casuistries of a real social case, presenting suggestions for addressing the problem or recommendations made by other experts (a psychologist, social worker, lawyer, etc.).
